I download many papers from journals as a student and most of the time the files are PDF files that have strange names like PF10001.pdf. Anyways, the website itself has a good filename beside the download link so I just copy that and paste it into the rename dialog.
The only problem is, sometimes the text I copy and paste have accents (since it's in another language, like French) and sometimes the accents don't play well with searching all the time; I'd prefer to have the title without the accents.
Question: Is there any addon/utility for firefox or some other browser that would allow an automatic conversion of accented characters to unaccented characters when I copy and paste? I use Ubuntu linux so the solution should work there, but I would use another browser if necessary.
The other alternative is that I just put in all the accents and then strip them using a regexp, and integrate this script into the file manager, but I'd hope there was a solution out there already.
