I have a Gigabyte Z77X-D3H board. when I install windows 7 or 8 on to the GPT drive (3TB) as RAID 1 it will install but not boot. If I switch the SATA controller to ACHI on the intel controller it will boot fine into windows. It just wont work if RAID is selected - this is even with 1 drive or 2 drives in a mirror.

If I do it from the Marvell controller it works okay, but the marvell controller is not that great and the machine does not power down correctly when using the marvell controller, so I prefer not to use that.

Has anyone else got this problem. If have lost several days trying to figure it out and I now have the serial number for windows burned into my brain after reinstalling it so many times.

When trying to setup Intel Smart Response (SSD caching) I had to install the IRST software multiple times to get the RAID settings to "stick". Major pain. May not be the same as your case but I would recommend try to reinstall the Intel drivers (a couple of times) –  Brad Patton May 2 '13 at 20:36
