I've some hardware which works via IP (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10822 - RN XV WiFly). The device has RX/TX lines, connected to another device I am communicating with (an Arduino) - using simple 9600 (and other baud) serial. I can telnet to port 2000 on the device and send/receive data to the target, however, I then have software (the Arduino IDE), which can use a serial port to perform operations on the remote device.
Assuming that I can not change the software, and that I do not want to plug the device in via real serial/USB every time I want to do the operation - that I want to stay on the wireless communication, is there some driver or software I can install that will create a telnet connection and allow it to behave like a serial port?
This will need to work on Windows 8.
