My set top box recorded some TV shows in a dvr-ms and mpeg format, both of which have aspect ratios changing on the fly according to the change of aspect ratio of the currently broadcasted/recorded media (for example the show I wanted to record has 4/3, while the ads broadcasted with it are in 16/10). I need to convert either dvr-ms or MPEG2 video to something more standard, lets say avi/xvid or mp4/x264 or similar with aspect ratio of 4/3 throughout the entire video, which furthermore consists of multiple parts (separate files).

Tried ProjectX, doesn't seem to enforce the aspect ratio, MPEG-VCR, which crashes on windows 7 after some time spent exporting and mkvtoolnix, which sometimes doesn't import the audiotrack.
