I'm currently trying to build/install gcc and/or clang to use on my chromebook and I'm having nothing but trouble. I'm probably just being a bit stupid, but I've run
'sudo emerge-x86-alex gcc'
'sudo emerge-x86-alex clang'
from within the chroot. Both which seem to work, I've tried using
'cros_workon start --board=x86-alex sys-devel/gcc'
'cros_workon start --board=x86-alex sys-devel/clang'
With all of this I've tried running start_devserver to use gmerge to install them with no luck.
I've also tried installing a portage tree on my chromebook but that hasn't worked either. The only other thing I tried was by manually editing the chromeos-base/chromeos-dev ebuild to add gcc as a dependency, which obviously hasn't worked either.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
If it matters, I'm running the development environment on Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit.
