USE THIS ZIP FILE TO TAKE OWNERSHIP . It makes life easier! It'll basically add a nice & easy 'Take Ownership' button in the drop down Menu when you Right Click on any folder you want deleted.
It's extremely EASY to install. Just RUN it and click OK :) It will show up immediately and there's no need to Reboot or Restart your computer.
I'm certain WINDOWS tries extremely hard to HELP us all not mess up our working computers, and people really don't know how to enter the REGISTRY to delete things thoroughly there. But learning is all part of life, so any time we can learn and then pass on wisdom, let's do it with dignity and free of charge.
For Example.. Say you want to delete something useless you no longer use or need or want inside " C:/ProgramFiles "
Well, just because you delete it there, doesn't mean it was deleted from the REGISTRY. So then you hit the WINDOWS FLAG KEY plus the R' KEY and type in
"regedit" (without parenthesis)
Press OK. And BOOM.. you're in the sacred holy place of the REGISTRY.
Next you just go into the HKEY_Current_User or HKey_Local_Machine and enter the "SOFTWARE" folder to locate the unwanted program folder of choice to simply DELETE IT from the face of the earth.
This is what all those deleting programs achieve for you.. or try to achieve for you for a share of cost .. aka wasted MONEY. LOL
They go into the REGISTRY where everything is buried under tons of folder pathways and search out the BEAST and destroy it. BUT you can do it yourself .. and it's so EASY to do once you learn how.
NEVER FEAR THINGS ON THIS PLANET. You are smarter than you think ;)
WARNING: Please BE CAREFUL not to delete anything under WINDOWS or MICROSOFT folders unless you know for certain it is safe to do so.
In the case of the System32/DriverStore you can clearly see if you have UPDATES of the same folder just by looking at the YEAR it was installed.
DO THE MATH. When did you purchase or receive your desktop or laptop??
If the DRIVER folder or driver's INF file has a newer date or current date or a year-date a couple years after the ORIGINAL Driver INF folder.. you can safely delete them, but do remember to keep the Original driver folder with the youngest/earliest Date you see listed there.
TIP: If drivers are corrupt, you can Repair them using the Windows Recovery disk or downloading a good virtual Recovery file from the internet, and then use a USB device to make REPAIRS, in case you have a MINI laptop without a CD disk tray. Google it up!
Good luck and Have fun deleted things you don't need! :p
