I am on a Linux system and connect to a computing cluster (also running Linux) through VNC, I use the VNC client vinagre. I would like to switch between windows in the VNC client with Alt + Tab, but it doesn't work. For example, if I have an xterm and emacs open, if xterm is selected the Alt + Tab only writes a space. While if emacs is selected, wrong type argument: consp, nil. I don't know what this means: is it that the keys are incorrectly mapped to the VNC? How could I enable switching between windows?

The computing cluster is running Centos 6.2

Maybe I can change the shortcuts for switching bewteen windows, does anybody know how? I don't even know my GUI
