I'm using Microsoft Word 2010 and I have a template for the contents page that I have to fulfil (#1). However, when I updated my contents the formatting changed and became like the image # 2.

How can I add the chapter number before its name and decrease the spacing before the name of the sub-sections? Thank you

Have you tried anything yet? What was the result? – Adam Jun 4 '13 at 7:34

I would try to (edit the formatting)[… of the TOC styles, specifically the TOC2 style. – Adam Jun 13 '13 at 23:21
Thanks! Which is the parameter that defines the spacing between the text and numbers? – bG1NN3R Jun 15 '13 at 3:09
The tab stops under Format->Tabs is a good bet. – Adam Jun 18 '13 at 15:59
