I would like to create a new virtual machine in vmware player with debian 7 wheezy.

In the vmware player wizard "Select a Guest Operating System" under "Linux" there is only debian 5 or debian 6 selectable.

Is it really important what to select here?

I downloaded the latest debian-7.0.0-amd64-netinst.iso and i am not shure what to select. Should i choose debian 6 64bit or should i choose "Other" and then "Other 64-bit"?

hope this question is not offtopic. Thanks for your help.

This question came from our site for system and network administrators.

It doesn't really matter all that much. It only affects the default selections for memory, storage. Pick Debian 6, or Other 2.6. – Zoredache Jun 3 '13 at 21:22
