I am trying to vnc connect from A to B through ssh tunnel via C. I cannot connect directly from A to B via ssh. A and C connect through ssh with password authentication. C and B connect through ssh with public keys authentication (requires a passphrase). I run linux on all these three systems. I do the following:
I start the vncserver on B
on A I open the ssh tunnel:
ssh -L 5901:B:5901 username@C
and start the client
but vinagre hangs and doesn't ask me for a password or passphrase (not sure what it should ask for).
Because a similar setup works with another system set but without public keys authentication, could the latter be the responsible for the unsuccessful vnc connection?
