I'm looking for an open source package that either does this, or can be adapted to do this. I have large PDF files containing thousands of pages. There are several discrete documents in this PDF file, but there is no way to identify them without human intervention. I'd like to be able to do the following:
(1) Upload a large PDF file. The software then converts each page to an image. Then I log into a portal to "organize" these incoming, new pages.
(2) On each page, I can easily indicate whether it is part of the previous document (in which case it automatically 'attaches' to the prior image), or a new document (in which case it creates a new 'document'.)
(3) I have the ability to tag each page, as well as enter a title per 'document' if I would like.
(4) I can search this afterwards.
I could easily program this and make the UI experience I want, but wanted to check first to see if anybody was aware of a package that gets close to this. The most important step for me is 1 and 2, since otherwise splitting pages from a PDF file manually and saving as a new document hundreds of times is a nightmare.
