Can I add a context menu command when right clicking a white (empty) area inside a folder Windows Explorer? I know this is possible in Windows 7 (by editing registry), but the same trick doesn't work in Windows XP

What trick? If you explain what you did in 7 that works perhaps we can tell you what you need to change for XP. – Scott Chamberlain Jun 8 '13 at 17:57

@ScottChamberlain: There's no real "trick" as such, the mechanism is well known. See Modifying the Explorer Context Menu or any of the linked dupes for more info about the reg keys involved. – Karan Jun 8 '13 at 22:11
