I have 2 routers: 1 is an ADSL ethernet router and connected to that is a WIFI router.
I have a Dlink NAS box, Raspberry PI and my iMac connected by ethernet to the first router.
On my iMac the NAS is reachable via
http://dlink.local. The raspberry PI is reachable via
http://raspberrypi.lan. Why is this? Why not ether
lan? They're both going through the same switch into the first (ADSL) router.
Even stranger, if I'm on WIFI on my laptop I can access the raspberry PI by typing in
http://raspberrypi.lan (it shows the first page of Apache web server I installed) but I can't access
http://dlink.lan which I tried as well). Not at all. Also the laptop can't find the NAS drives in Finder (Mac) either.
Any ideas why this is happening? I'm no networking geek, so I'm not too sure about what I've done here. I managed to set up the second router to work from the ethernet and to forward DHCP requests to the first router.
The upshot of this is that I now can't access the control panel of the second router anymore - going to
192.168.1.254 shows the first (ADSL) router control panel. :-(
Any ideas, any pointers that might be able to help me sort this out would be absolutely fantastic.
