How do I prevent Internet Explorer's address bar's URL history from showing up in the Run dialogue? No tweak seems to prevent this. I'm running Windows 8.

I am not sure if you can hide only the internet explorer history, but this is the way to prevent storing recently opened items:

Go to Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Taskbar and Start Menu. Click the Start Menu tab. Under Privacy clear the "Store and display a list of recently opened items in the Start menu" check box.

If you would like to remove one entry you can do it by deleting the item using Regedit, the key is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU

Hope that helps!

This has absolutely nothing to do with what I asked. –  Locutus Jun 16 '13 at 16:12
i understand that you want to hide internet explorer history from the run combobox in the Start Menu, right? if so, then this does have something to do with your question –  spacebiker Jun 16 '13 at 16:23
It doesn't hide the IE URL history. –  Locutus Jun 16 '13 at 19:41
Maybe it doesn't work but you said it has nothing to do, and that is not right. Remember that we are always trying to help. What os are you running, vista, windows 7, .. ? –  spacebiker Jun 16 '13 at 22:02
I already stated that I've tried all the standard tweaks. Your answer is generic and pointless. Please test it and see that it actually works before posting it as an answer; otherwise put it in a comment. –  Locutus Jun 17 '13 at 4:20
