I work in an office of Mac users, but there is one Windows machine with some awful legacy application we're tied to at the moment. The other day it died and I've been wrestling with it since. I'm hoping to virtualize the harddrive but without access to a working version of Windows most of the P2V tools I've been finding just don't work. The ones that could work all seem to require being able to boot the machine to install an agent or run some registry modification tools which also isn't an option.
I'm hoping someone knows of some OSX/Linux tool/script/app/etc I can use to convert an externally mounted drive with a Windows XP install on it to a virtual disk, preferably a vhd/vdi so I can use VirtualBox, but we have licences for VMWare and Parallels as well. I suspect they're likely slightly dated versions though.
Thanks in advance for any direction at all. I'm trying to draw up some contingency plans in case this route doesn't pan out.
