I have rules set up in Outlook 2010 for each of my IMAP email accounts to forward the message to my Inbox (so that I only have to check one Inbox for mail). This works fine except when I have read the message on my cell phone or iPad. I mark the message as unread after reading on the mobile device and it gets downloaded by Outlook. But it sits in the inbox for the email account and does not trigger the rule to forward it to the unified inbox.

Searching for a solution has revealed that this is because all rules are applied 'after the message arrives'. IMAP keeps track of message status between clients, any mail read in another client registers in Outlook as already arrived (and already read).

Great. Has anyone come up with a workaround?
