Please forgive me I am really not very good at networking. I have my iMac which is attached to my Draytek router. My Draytek connects to the internet connected to my wireless Virgin Router.
These links are connected via ethernet.
The Draytek router 192.168.20.1/192.168.20.11 is listening on port 8080 for admin. My virgin router IP is 192.168.5.1 From my netbook I can connect wirelesley to the router admin page on 220.127.116.11:8080 And any other device connected via Ethernet to the Virgin router... 198.162.5.*
However because my Mac is connected to the Draytek, I am not able to access it directly. nor the USB storage also attached. I set up FTP accounts on the Draytek and work fine on 192.168.20.*
However what I want to do is connect to my Mac wirelessly via the Virgin -> Draytek -> Mac
the issue here is that even though I opened up a port 2256 to speak to the mac (IP 192.168.20.31) DCHP so that the Draytek says that my WAN (virgin) can go to that I still cannot access the iMac to view the websites on my iMac localhost from the netbook under domain.loc or the IP address of the imac.
What do I need to do...?
so from (netbook 192.168.5.31 to virgin 192.168.5.1 to 192.168.20.1 to 18.104.22.168)
do I need to port forward on the Virgin Router? do I need to map addresses in the Draytek? would a VPN be better instead?
I want to get to grips with this as I am about to set up a WAMP stack over my home network for local development and storage.
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm lost in the connectivity Thanks
