I was trying to configure SSH server in Windows-7.x64. Downloaded OpenSSHWindows53p1-2 and installed. As per the documentation, the installer is a bare minimum cygwin environment, just to run ssh and sshd along with other ssh utilities. It also supports NT Service, but I'm stumbled upon configuring it as a window service. Tried cygrunsrv.exe --install sshd -p sshd.exe but upon net start sshd it fails with exit status 255.

Any idea?

don't know about OpenSSH for Windows, but for Cygwin's OpenSSH package you have to run ssh-host-config –  golimar Jul 8 '13 at 8:30
