My desktop PC is unable to properly sleep.
- Currently, instead of going into sleep mode, it simply powers off.
- For a while before it started always simply powering off, when Windows tried to put it to sleep, the computer would sometimes lock up (blank screen but still running) and had to be powered off by holding the power button. When Linux tried to put it to sleep, the kernel gave some sort of hardware error (which I unfortunately didn't record).
- This happens in both Windows and Linux. It happens whether I tell it to go to sleep or whether the OS puts it to sleep from being let idle.
Since it happens in both OSes and seems somewhat random, I suspect hardware; I'm guessing motherboard in particular? Before I start swapping random hardware components, does anyone have any suggestions?
