Anyone know of a Windows Explorer add-in to give tabs in Windows 7?
Previously a very satisfied user of QTTabBar in XP but this doesn't appear to work.

I use QTTabBar and Classic Shell together. The software is beta, yet, thus far, I have not experienced crashes.

This solution is not free, but I use it and the functionality is awesome. It gives all of your applications tabs, and allows you to create tab groups for any application.

CubicExplorer deserves a mention in the current context. Please note that this is not a Windows Explorer add-in.

another recommendation for explorer replacements: UltraExplorer is designed to be the ultimate File Manager for Microsoft Windows. The user interface is completely customizable. You can hide or show as many of the featured windows, dock them in other places or let them float as free standing windows. The same is true for the tool bars as well. You can even move buttons from toolbars to other toolbars and assign your own short cuts keys. Some of the key features of UltraExplorer are:
Tabbed Folders - There are several ways to create a new tab
UltraExplorer is freeware.A portable version is available. ( UE doesn't have to be installed while you're waiting for a new version of QTTabBar) :) p.s.: while it is not the ultimate file manager in my books (that'd be Total Commander), it is certainly an excellent explorer-style file manager

While they're working on it I'd suggest taking a look at xplorer². It has tabs and many other userful goodies. Lite edition is free.

I've just come across Windows Double Explorer which might be an interim solution. (I'm going to try it tonight.)

Just come across 7plus which, amongst a plethora of other features, adds tabs to Explorer.

I am developing one. Here is the pre-alpha build. http://tech.c-dan.com/cware.aspx Fully functional & identical to windows 7 explorer except for the address-bar with breadcrumbs. There is an empty path bar instead which can be used to navigate to a path.
