Super User is a question and answer site for computer enthusiasts and power users. It's 100% free, no registration required.

The question is how to not let programs to lower permission for a files. It is a possible workaround for this problem. On windows you can not overwrite a file if it has the read-only attribute. And this limitation do not allow to work with subversion repositories through VMWare shared folders (hgfs driver). If it is possible to mount it preventing programs from lowering permission this will be a solution. Every file should always have 777 mode. Is it possible?

This is a template for a line in fstab:

host:/ /mnt/hgfs vmhgfs defaults,ttl=5,gid=33,dmask=007,fmask=007 0 0
