One of the computers in my house has been suffering from intermittent wireless networking issues. It would suffer from random connection drops, or fail to be assigned an ip address. Switching to a static one appeared to solve the problem, but dropouts soon continued.
Suspecting a driver issue of some degree, I reinstalled windows 8, but the issue still exists. Using the default drivers it fails to connect to the network. In an attempt to further diagnose this issue, I switched to a wired homeplug, with the exact same symptoms. A ping command to the router reports "General failure".
I have checked the router settings, and there is no mac filtering enabled, and it appears to be assigning an ip address to the computer in question. There are 4 additional wireless devices present on the network that do not suffer from this issue.
The router is a Draytek Vigor 2710n, with the wireless adapter being a generic Edimax Wireless-N USB stick.
What could be the possible cause of this issue? How could I further try to diagnose it?
