My screen changes color once I enter the desktop on start up, the screen is fine on the loading screen and when I shut down the computer it returns to normal colors, it was fine the other night and I haven't changes any settings in a long time, I have tried to unplug the VGA cable and put it back in and that works until the next start up, and the system icons become distorted and stay the same as before. Is there any way of sorting this out or will I need a new monitor?

Have you tried a new VGA cabel? another monitor or perhaps the DVI/HDMI port to make sure it is not the VGA port which is damaged. – Jesper Jensen Jul 24 '13 at 11:14
Okay, thank you very much :) – Ben Duckworth Jul 24 '13 at 11:36
What operating system are you using? If your using Windows, there might be a color profile that is set to default. Try going into Color Management and trying a different color profile. I recommend sRGB IEC61966-2.1 – Jason Bristol Jul 24 '13 at 14:11
