Super User is a question and answer site for computer enthusiasts and power users. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I would like to distribute a model that requires files to be installed in a specific location for it to work. The user group is diverse, and I do not want the opportunity of failing to install the pieces correctly. It would be too hard to troubleshoot or assist them as it is a remote group of users. I was trying to run the files from a DVD, but the parent program keeps looking to the root directory for the supplemental files. I am using another developers add in--which is encrypted, and I cannot modify the files to look to another location for the needed support files.

One recommendation I received was to zip the files into a folder and unzip them to the correct place. Is there a way to automate this? I want the files to unzip to a specific location without user input...like a .exe file. Perhaps that is the answer to my question, I need to create a .exe file, but I don't know how!
