Trying to install mysql 5.1 community server on windows 2003. Unfortunetaly it has not been updated for a while and does not have service pack 2. And the product key has expired which has made me unable to install it.

I believe that i cannot go any further without the update of the service pack but if anyone can convince me i'll be glad to know.

  1. Path Mysql MSI installation -> Requires NET 4.0 Framework -> Requires Imaging component ->Service pack to low Requires atleast Windows service pack 1

  2. Path Using noinstall.zip

    Reference: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/windows-install-archive.html

2.3.6.4. Starting MySQL Server on Microsoft Windows for the First Time

    Terminal: "C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin\mysqld" --console

Gives me this: Can't find the procedurstartadress GetProcessID in the DLL-file KERNEL 32.DLL(roughly translated from swedish)

I suggest making a full disk backup, then downloading service pack 2 for server 2003. After that is done and all new windows updates are run you can connect the server to a LAN. Without this I recommend keeping it unplugged from any network. (which makes having mysql installed senseless unless you are only accessing it locally). –  Hennes Aug 25 '13 at 10:02
