I have recently switched from a keyboard that has media buttons (Logitech) for play/pause to one instead with recordable macros (Poker 2). Are there alt-codes or any key sequence I can record to simulate these presses?

EDIT: No Alt codes, I guess. There are volume keys, though, so it must implement more than just keyboard HID. I could use AutoHotKey but I would rather this work on the keyboard than the specific OS/computer I am currently running.

Would depend on the concrete player you were using, because they all have different bindings. In VLC you just press the Spacebar. You could also try SharpKeys. Please specify. – Doktoro Reichard Aug 28 '13 at 4:34
Do you mean like a Logitech G15 keyboard (or something similar)? Media keys have their own usage IDs in the USB HID class - e.g. they are their own key. There is not a key sequence that mimics them. If you advise the make/model of the keyboard we may be able to help with specific details of how to trigger these. Otherwise, AutoHotkey_L may be the way to go. – Andrew White Aug 28 '13 at 4:37
