I need an answer to why my laptop is not shutting down. Whenever it restarts or shutdown it was configuring and I let that happen for an hour. When I came back to it had been shutting down for the last 8 hours. I did some research into system restore and tried it but it says the laptop doesn't have a save point. I honestly have no idea what is happening to it as my anti virus has detected nothing like a virus. I can't even restore the laptop to factory settings because I don't have the restore disks.

What message is displayed during what should be a shutdown? – Moses Sep 4 '13 at 18:39
@user25137 - You can contact HP on how to purchase/recieve a copy of the restoration disk although the factory restoration image is likely on the hdd itself. – Ramhound Sep 4 '13 at 18:45
Hold power button down for 10 sec. I guarantee it will shut down. – Josh Campbell Sep 4 '13 at 18:45
@moses the shutting down image stays up for hours after the "Windows is configuring. Do not turn off" screen – user251375 Sep 4 '13 at 19:02
