I work and live on an offshore installation.

I have an internet connect in my cabin which has worked fine for the last year. Only yesterday, the wireless router I have connected (Tenda W150N), loses the internet signal for about 10 seconds, then comes back for around 5 seconds. This process is repeating itself.

I am using an iPad 2, and the internet works for the 5 seconds it is back on for.

I can clearly see the signal being disconnected as the LED stops flashing.

When I disconnect the ethernet cable from the router and connect directly to the laptop it is fine. Back in the router and the same problem.

I have changed to a different router and the same problem persists.

Any suggestions or ideas?

What revisions of the 801.11 standard are you using? –  Ramhound Sep 13 '13 at 15:14

Ramhound, I am not sure what this means. Apologies, but I am not exactly a computer expert. –  Andy Sep 13 '13 at 15:16

Read en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11 after you do update your question with the router your using and the WifI adapter install on your laptop. –  Ramhound Sep 13 '13 at 15:24

I will have a read through this. I am using a Tenda W150M and only have an IPad, not a laptop with me –  Andy Sep 13 '13 at 15:34

You mentioned that you disconnected the ethernet cable to temporarily resolve the problem, but have you attempted rebooting the router? And/or perhaps rebooting your modem? –  ϺОŞΣŞ Sep 13 '13 at 16:17
