I would like to try hadoop. I've being trying to install different Linux distros and got tu run "Mageia 3" properly.

But now I need to find the proper hadoop packages to install. I've been searching and found that Hortonworks offers packages for Red Hat, CentOS and SLES. Cloudera offers the same and adds support for Ubuntu and Debian.

Which of those would work best with Mageia? Any rpm? I've tried some but they produce errors.

Do you know any repository containing hadoop with support for Mageia 3? (I can't find any from the package manager). Or maybe a tarball?

I've also found an old hadoop rpm file for Mageia 2. Would it be better?

I wouldn't like to install a different Linux distro just for this.

I would also try to install Pentaho or Jaspersoft.
