Ok, I've been doing some research into installing ubuntu server onto an mdadm raid1 setup and ive come across a couple ways:
1) install it onto two drives by using the "manual" method on the cd installer
2) use an existing installation, create the same partitions on 2nd disk, copy data
but my thought is, why not just clone the drive?
- boot from cd
- clone the entirety of drive1 to drive2 using dd
- boot from disk1 and change UUID of disk2
- configure mdadm
do you suppose that there will be issues doing this? I haven not been able to find a tutorial that does it this way which might tell me its not possible. im a little bit noob at linux and i was hoping that smart people here would be able to fill in the blanks of this operation.
