How do I find the manufacturer to upgrade the BIOS?

It'll be helpful by telling us the model number of the motherboard, or at least provide a decent picture of the motherboard... – deddebme Nov 3 '09 at 6:56

Download cpuz from cpuid.org -- It can identify your motherboard for you.

If you're using Intel, you can identify the chipset by using the Intel Processor Identification Utility 4.2.

download and run SIW.

in the left hand navigation pane under Hardware, click on Motherboard.

right below click on BIOS to identify the version currently installed.

What I do is run dmidecode, or lshw, if available.
