I've been wrestling with Ubuntu for some time now and I'm starting to settle down with it as far as a potential permanent OS goes.
Recently, I made the apparently colossal mistake of installing the official Nvidia drivers on my laptop (630M 1GB). After figuring out how to uninstall them, I was left without any top panel or side launcher panel.
I searched on AskUbuntu and followed the instructions present in this question: http://askubuntu.com/questions/204428/unity-missing-cant-see-top-or-side-panels
The answer given is quoted here:
Try the following: Type the following in to a terminal:
dconf reset -f /org/compiz/
If this is an issue with Unity settings that will reset your config to default. I hope that helps.
So once I did that, I ended up with my top right status-bar/menu icons being repeated twice. Here is a screenshot indicating this:
So this is quite strange. Both sets work identically, but independently (if I click on the left side volume icon, only the left one shows, and same for the right). If I use Unity Tweak to enable and disable elements of the status bar, BOTH react.
I'm quite puzzled and I'm sure this is something silly left over from the aftermath of my Nvidia disaster, so any and all help would be appreciated.
As always, thank you for any and all attempts/efforts!
