Is there any addin or tools available for web browser to view multiple web sites on one page or tab? Or is there any web service to allow me to customize one page for multiple web sites?

For example, within a page, there are some tools to allow me to define regions like a table or several frames. Then I'll be able to add url to each cell or frames. After settings, I'll be able to view several sites on one tab or page. Not sure if there is any tools available?

Just out of interest: what will you use this for? – Umber Ferrule Nov 4 '09 at 21:39

Do you know Netvibes? Do you know that widgets can be web pages? – alfplayer Nov 15 '09 at 23:29

The Split Browser Firefox extension does it pretty well for me.

It is good but I am using Vimperator for firefox so it is hard to reach menu items to add new areas/regions. If there is more than two, as I tried, the addin complains it is full. – David.Chu.ca Nov 4 '09 at 21:32
I've got 5 splits open now, and while it's almost completely unusable, it's not complaining at all. This is still the reason I don't use Vimperator, though, too conflict-y with other extensions. – Phoshi Nov 4 '09 at 22:25

Go to http://www.browsermash.com It's simple, you can view up to 3 websites at once on a single page. you dont even need to download anything!! and its completely free.

Back in the old days I accomplished this by writing my own <frameset>** which loaded whatever pages I wanted in whatever sections of the page I defined. Hardly was it dynamic though. But, after I tied it together with a meta-refresh to reload the page every minute or so, it served my needs. It was pretty old school, but did exactly what I wanted.

** I.e. in a local .html file, referencing those remote sites/pages in the various frames/quadrants.

Opera has this built into its startup page as does the new version of safari

Both of those solutions require a browser switch though

Not sure if either of these extensions will help:

Speeddial shows thumbnails of your favourites

Showcase shows thumbnails of your currently open tabs

I found one web site providing the service I want: http://www.widexplorer.com. Two features I find out very interesting:

  1. Use its search to open a serials of search engine results in a list: google, beging, youbute, yahoo, wikipedia, ...
  2. Use its edit URLs to add web sites. For example, I created one stock watch page for Microsfot, Apple, IBM, DELL... Then I got a list of stock prices. Pretty neat!

Another good feature is that I can bookmark the URL for late use. Basically it opens websets in one page.

I also found that at the end of its list, WidExplorer has the current view URLs for editing, as well as tiny URL for the actual URL, very long one. For example, I edited the above stock list URL with only two URLs: http://tinyurl.com/yeoa4xv.

Only thing for this service is that the page stretch too wide. I have to move horizontal scroll bar to find web pages. I hope if some UIs are available there to shrink URLs or delete any.

OK there is two "-" and "+" for each site. I guess it is used to adding and deleting URLs. – David.Chu.ca Nov 4 '09 at 22:29
