I have a Windows laptop running Apache, which I am using as a dev server for a web app.

Two days a week I "have to" work in A coffee shop. I need to be able to test the app from an iPhone. However, I have been unable to achieve this using the laptop's local IP, and I tried to use a VPN with no success (does this need to be configured in Apache in some way?).

An I making this more difficult than it needs to be (I do that)? Does anyone have any recommended troubleshooting or solutions?

Are both your laptop and iPhone on the coffee shop's WiFi network? – Colin 't Hart Oct 23 '13 at 9:20
Yes. It may be different than regular Lan Network though. It is an att hotspot where you have to accept an agreement before it lets you connect to the wifi. – user1167442 Oct 23 '13 at 19:08
For anyone else: I can't do this at Starbucks, but worked fine at Bigby. I believe it must be related to the closed nature of Starbucks wifi, i.e. you have to login. Probably clients are disabled from seeing each other. – user1167442 Nov 9 '13 at 20:40
