Now that google notebook does not allow new users to sign up are there any similar online note taking applications available?

There are quite a few! I was poking around for this a few days ago. I personally like Evernote and though it's not quite a note-taking service, clockingit.com is one of my favorite websites. :-). Try Evernote. This is better than Google Notebook. You can write notes from your phone, put in pictures, and lots of other cool stuff. |

There are a variety of ways to store information from bookmarks / urls, free form text, and you get to arrange the notes like sticky notes. You can create multiple pages of tabbed information too. Well worth a look. |

I like Remember the milk. It has mobile versions but also has google calendar integration. |

The best one would be Google Tasks. It's easy to use and has an iPhone and Android client, if you want. |
