I plan on getting an acer c7 chromebook and installing Ubuntu on it. I don't plan on using a desktop environment much, expect for playing games. My plan is to setup a server with Ubuntu, virtualgl, wine, and some games. Then I want to use turbovnc to remotely connect to play games.

Do I need a specific desktop environment, like gnome, kde, xfce, etc. to do this? Do I need any of those at all, or do I only need x.org?
