Typically if I sleep my computer, it will keep the computer on, but turn the monitor off. I was under the impression that if I enter hibernate mode, it will sleep the computer, but also shut down the hardware. If I enter hibernate mode, I'm just returned to the login screen. Any thoughts on this? Is it a Windows issue or a Motherboard issue? (some people have suggested the video card is preventing it from hibernating)

The PC is a custom-build and the motherboard is the MSI K8N Master-2 Far 7 board.

Check your Power Options from within the Control Panel to view specific power settings like hibernation and hard drive hibernation. There's likely a setting there where you may enable or disable hardware hibernation. – Trey Nov 4 '13 at 17:57
Check the programs that you have running, some have an option to block power-management functions. – Synetech Nov 4 '13 at 18:10
