My grandmother always gets these phones from her telco which gives her the latest 3rd generation Internet, music downloads and plenty of other features she doesn't want. All she wants from the phone is:

  • Perform and receive calls
  • Few buttons as possible
  • Large buttons
  • Big fonts
  • Easy access to the address book
  • Speed dial
  • GSM (that's her network, no CDMA please)
  • Preferably Nokia - all phones she had were Nokias

Do you have a recommendation?

Every Nokia I've come across has been awful. The build quality leaves a lot to be desired and battery life is atrocious. – alex Nov 8 at 19:03
My experience was quite different - I had the 6100 and 6230 models, which where great. The 6100 lasted more than 6 years without a problem. – David Rabinowitz Nov 8 at 19:30
With newer models it's been quite awful. I've seen higher end Nokia phones that were almost falling apart, even though they were nearly brand new. Troggy and joe have some pretty good options though. – alex Nov 8 at 19:48
