I purchased a new macbook and want to sell the old one. The one I want to reset is a 2011 15" macbook pro and the disk drive does not work. I have the disks that came with it, but have no way to use them. Can I reset the computer for a new user without having to install the disks?

What exactly is your question? If you have the disk that came with it, format the hdd, and provide the disks. – Ramhound Nov 15 '13 at 13:48
Can you use a CD or DVD (possibly USB or firewire based) rather than using floppy disks? – Hennes Nov 15 '13 at 14:10
