Super User is a question and answer site for computer enthusiasts and power users. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am working on a software involving IPTV which has the following requirements:

  1. The browser is Opera loaded on Philips TV. The browser has "Enable Cross Network Navigation" turned off.

  2. The homepage of the app is loaded from a www location.

  3. At some stage, the app needs to load images from a server (Apache/Tomcat) on the LAN

The issue is that the browser denies to load the resources on LAN. This is because Opera has a security feature, which prohibits a page to load resources from a "more secure" network. In their definition, internet is the least secure, LAN is more secure, and localhost is most secure. Hence, a page loaded from the internet cannot access resources from the LAN or localhost. We are stuck with not being able to reconfigure or change the browser (anyone with an idea on how to reconfigure will be of great help).

Just in case, following is from the HTTP header dump:

Opera/9.80 (Linux mips ; U; HbbTV/1.1.1 (; Philips; ; ; ; ) CE-HTML/1.0 NETTV/3.2.1; en) Presto/2.6.33 Version/10.70

Any help in this regards will be great.
