Google maps is off course a good online map, stores bookmarks of locations and I think also the routes between locations. However I don't know if the webpage also supports GPS stuff Google Earth also works on Linux (making it available offline), but I couldn't find a quick confirmation on whether it supports GPS tracking/logging. Perhaps it's worth checking this list

Depending on what you want to do with it QLandkarteGT is worth looking into. It can display * different online maps * garmin-style vector maps * raster maps And helps you in planning routes, setting POIs etc. it can talk to various Garmin devices. I use it frequently to load gps-data to and from my Garmin eTrex vista.
