on windows XP, quite often Firefox will lose its taskbar icon when it's been minimised, however if i know it's still runnung, it can be alt-tabed to. does anyone know why this happens or is it just a bug?
edit: it's a known bug

I've noticed this too - although only occasionally. It seemed to be most prevalent when I had lots of applications open and/or two or more Firefox windows. I think it's just a bug. Is there anything on the Firefox support forums?

so far found this in the mozilla knowledge base and this in bugzilla seems it's known but unassigned

If this happens, you can get your window back thorugh the Task Manager -> Right Klick on Firefox task and then clicking "Switch To". This way, at least you get your browser window back. I don't know how to prevent it from happening though.

Why not just Alt+Tab to the missing page? Simplest workaround.

It sure does stifle productivity, disappearing all the time, when going between, say a Word doc and Firefox, or a photo editor and back to web to see how something looks online, but where oh where has Firefox gone? I know it's there, but wish it would act like a normal minimized application and display on the task bar!
