I'm using Windows 7 and have been taking Java and C# classes this past year. Somewhere during this time my computer has started automatically changing the internet connections setting to use a proxy by default, rather than automatically detect settings. In this past year I have been using NetBeans IDE and Microsoft Visual C# 2010 Express, and I think one of them (probaly the C# program) is the culprit, but I don't know how to get my computer to change the default setting. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

There is no single, central, universal proxy setting for the whole system, so you’ll have to be more specific about what you are talking about. Are you talking about a specific browser? Are you talking about the Internet Options applet in the Control Panel? What happens when you reset the proxy, does it switch back right away or after running a specific program or after reboot? –  Synetech Dec 28 '13 at 1:29
I am talking about the Internet Options applet in the Control Panel. If I turn off the "use proxy" settings, then it stays off until I reset my computer. I believe this started happening after I installed Microsoft Visual C# 2010 Express, though I can't find any such settings in the program itself. –  Jacob Jan 22 '14 at 17:25
