I use KVM to host vm (ubuntu). Then I started vnc4server on the vm.

The content of ~/.vnc/xstartup is shown below. gnome-terminal in vnc does not show the prompt and doesn't accept any keyboard input. Does anybody see similar problems?

The same set up on a non virtual machine does not have the same problem. So the problem should be related with visualization.

I injected some commands in my ~/.bashrc, which shows that ./bashrc is correctly loaded. Therefore, gnome-terminal must somehow hang after loading bash. Does anybody know how to debug the cause of this problem.

#!/bin/sh

# Uncomment the following two lines for normal desktop:
# unset $SESSION_MANAGER
# exec /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc

[ -x /etc/vnc/xstartup ] && exec /etc/vnc/xstartup
[ -r $HOME/.Xresources ] && xrdb $HOME/.Xresources
xsetroot -solid grey
vncconfig -iconic &
#x-terminal-emulator -geometry 80x24+10+10 -ls -title "$VNCDESKTOP Desktop" &
#x-window-manager &

#exec icewm &
exec icewm-session &
#xterm &
gnome-terminal &
