does anybody know of any good free web server programs i can download that actually work?

it has to at least support asp.net OR php (or both lol). the reason i'm asking on here is because i've found heaps of them but most that i found are near impossible to setup up.

i did however find one that was as easy as 123! but it has one problem... it tends to forget my admin password every few weeks, and i can't reset it or anything so i have to backup everything, uninstall and then reinstall it all over again.

Of course, it would have been helpful to specify which ones you have already tried or what operating system etc. I use apache on Windows as my testbed. – Sinan Ünür Nov 12 '09 at 16:04

Just install IIS with Windows? Install .NET and install PHP, and done?

Check out WAMP (Apache, MySQL, PHP on Windows): installation is very easy.

Yes, you can get all of this (and more) from the web platform installer. Good for personal use.

IIS, PHP, ASP.NET, SQL Express, various web apps that live on top of PHP or ASP.NET., etc etc etc.

Apache2 has a decent windows installer iirc. And PHP did as well.

I like a manually installed and configured WAMP stack. It’s a !@#$ to get working just right, but once it’s done, it’s terrific (for my purposes) and I like having complete control over every aspect of it because it makes it easier to tweak or change (when needed), not to mention the benefit of actually understanding how it (all) works (together). – Synetech Mar 9 at 22:12

Making it run ASP.NET and PHP does involve a little bit of tinkering (better read the docs), but after that it seems to run okay for personal use.
