Is there a way to have Windows 7 show the classic logon prompt instead of the welcome screen? I'd prefer to have the users type in their username/password as opposed to it showing all the users' names/icons

Type secpol.msc in Start Menu Search Bar and hit Enter. This will open the Local Security Policy editor. Navigate to Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options.

Now on RHS, look for Interactive Logon: Hide last username Rt click on it and open its Properties. Set it to Enabled > Apply.

nope, not visible. maybe you have some weird 'hotlink prevention' script on your site? or maybe you have to be logged in to view the images? – davr Nov 12 at 20:40

but this does not get the classic login, this is something you could get in Win XP also. I need a way to prompt me for password remembering my user name but with the "Log on to:" drop down list for domain member computers

Go to the same dialog listed above, and look at Interactive logon: Do not require CTRL+ALT+DEL. – Joe Internet Nov 22 at 15:42
