I've got an HP Pavilion dv7-4087cl laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 SP1. On several CDs when I put them in, windows autorun behaves as though a blank CD-R had been inserted. I put the same CDs into a different machine and I can see the files that are on them. I've run all the windows updates, checked for updated drivers, deleted the UpperFilters from the registry entry for the CD drive (there are no LowerFilters), and uninstalled software that I had been using that creates virtual CD drives and allows you to mount ISO images to them. The drive is a "LightScribe Blu-ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD±R/RW Double Layer Support" according to HP Product Specs. Device Manager lists it as "hp BDDVDRW CT21L" using driver 6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.090713-1255) by Microsoft 6/21/2006. Data CDs and DVDs that I have burned using this drive show up normally. I believe it only happens with CD-Rs that were burned on another machine. I recently burned a bunch of files to a blank DVD and had no issues. So, how can I make the CD drive understand that these CDs are not blank (and I assure you that they are not blank)?
