Super User is a question and answer site for computer enthusiasts and power users. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I searched for quite some time for a solution for this but it seems there isn't any or I am missing something quite obvious. So what would I like to do is be able to start Chrome apps by a keyboard shortcut when on Chrome new tab page. For example if GMAIL icon is first under apps I would like to just press ctrl+1 and launch it. Similar thing can be done in Opera when on the new tab page (even when you are on any other page) and it loads the page under that speed dial card.

NOTE: I know of a Chrome App Launcher which can be pined to start menu on Windows and be used as a workaround for this but you still have to type in app name.
