I am trying to get a list of software index site. I am not having much luck using Google, so I thought I would ask all of you. Here is what I know of (no OS preference, I am not looking for open source like sourceforge.net)

If you search on Google for software,download,site,
you'll probably turn up with the most popular ones like: Tucows, BrotherSoft, FileHippo, and the likes.

Finally, you can also check The pick of the best download sites on the Net,
If you are not motivated enough "to Google". It will give you almost the same list.

although the topic may sound a bit confusing, the vast majority of websites posted there host/list a mix of demo, trial, share and freeware. furthermore, this type of question should be made community wiki since there is no definite answer. p.s.: all 5 websites, Nik just posted (and many more :) are listed in that post. – Molly7244 Nov 14 '09 at 3:06
