I've been using Linux, but installed Windows 8 to give it a try. I've decided to switch back, but now it seems something has happened to the BIOS/UEFI.

When the system boot I get a 'Press ESC to enter setup', but pressing this just shows me a black screen, and a couple seconds later the monitor goes into standby.

Has anyone seen this before? I have a sneaky suspicion Windows 8 has done something to the BIOS.

Thanks - Unfortunately there is no 'General' option in PC Settings for me? Windows 8.1 apparently, if that makes a difference? – James Jan 19 '14 at 16:02
You need to look again. The steps I provided are the way you need to access a UEFI Bios. Change PC Settings is at the bottom, Windows 8.1, its there. – Ramhound Jan 19 '14 at 18:23
